As a Title I school in North Carolina, opportunities like this truly make a meaningful difference for my students.\r\n\r\nWe began reading the books right away, and the excitement has been incredible. Many of my students are experiencing their very first novel study, and they are absolutely loving it. Students are eager to read, participate in discussions, and share their thoughts about the story.\r\n\r\nTeaching a novel involves much more than simply reading the text. Through Charlotte's Web, students are learning important reading skills such as identifying characters, setting, and plot; describing character traits; making inferences; understanding themes; and supporting their thinking with evidence from the text. We are also building speaking and listening skills through thoughtful class discussions and written responses aligned to our reading standards.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is interactive and engaging. I was especially excited to have an extra teacher copy, which allows me to project the book on the Smart Board using our smart camera so all students can follow along. This supports different learning styles and helps keep everyone actively engaged. We will continue using this approach throughout the entire book study. To further enhance the experience, I am using a book study project I purchased to deepen comprehension and help students master grade-level reading standards.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously hesitant readers are especially enjoying this experience. Having their own copy of the book has helped build confidence, and many are proud to be reading a full chapter book for the first time. Seeing their excitement and growth has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our classroom and investing in our students.
