The initial goal of this project, \"to enable future teachers to design and produce sustainable, engaging projects with professional-level quality,\" has been more than accomplished because of your donation! Our Teacher Cadet class is part of Alamance-Burlington Teacher Scholars, a district-wide \"grow your own\" program based at the ABSS Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC). Students in the Teacher Cadet class are placed in various elementary and secondary schools across the district for weekly field experiences and now have access to use the Cricut Venture and materials you helped to provide in order to support their host teachers and students.\r\n\r\nWhen our materials began to arrive in early November, we were overwhelmed! Students willingly stayed after class to help unbox vinyl, cutting mats, markers, weeding tools, transfer tape, and sticker paper, as well as put together our new Cricut Venture and its rolling stand. However, organizing everything into our Creativity Corner continues to be an ongoing process, as it has been a busy area in our classroom. We are still learning about the Cricut Design Space app and the wide variety of things the Venture can do! Our initial projects have helped us to learn key features, with the first project focusing on cutting vinyl quotes and making stickers for the notebooks we gave to our field experience host teachers as a thank-you gift. Since many of the students have had little to no experience with this type of machine, learning how to design and cut cardstock gift tags for personalized gift bags was also a basic but fun experience. More comfortable users were able to import our ABSS Teacher Cadet logo into the design program and learned how to print and cut stickers to use for recruiting and advertising purposes, which the program relies on heavily. More recently, a few students worked together to create a Name The Baby display to align with our Child Growth and Development unit by cutting vinyl numbers and a cardstock title. This has helped some of our more reluctant students to better understand how useful the Cricut Venture can be when creating their own bulletin boards and games during this semester's upcoming field experiences. \r\n\r\nAdditional next steps, which were a bit delayed due to an unexpected snow break, involve spreading kindness and positivity within our own location at CTEC! We have labeled our Student Care Closet and are creating and labeling Care Carts for our student bathrooms that will be filled with toiletries and hygiene products for use as needed by all students. We have already begun removing older, torn quotes from the bathroom stall doors and replacing them with newer quotes made from more durable vinyl. As a result, other teachers in the building have also asked if we would be willing to design and create vinyl quotes and bulletin board items for them. Your generous donation has made all of this possible, and we look forward to our future projects!","fullyFundedDate":1761588102423,"projectUrl":"project/from-paper-to-practice-cricut-tools-fo/9656507/","projectTitle":"From Paper to Practice: Cricut Tools for Future Teachers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Boyd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10226789_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756320051380","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kgboyd"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_103297","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":500,"numTeachers":13,"percentFrplEligible":75,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":24,"percentWhite":35,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":30,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"38.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":103297,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Career & Technical Education Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Career & Technical Education Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/alamance-burlington-school-system/career-tech-education-ctr/103297"}
