About my class

I would like to integrate a telepresence robot into my classroom and school. A telepresence robot is a robot which allows those who engage with the robot to view and hear the robot's operator while the operator can view what the robot is “looking” at, as well. This robot would serve a multitude of functions to improve teaching and learning at our school. A telepresence robot would allow students real life interaction with a functional robot. Robots in the workplace are exciting and inevitable. Any student with real life experience working with a robot will have an advantage in their career search. We will integrate the robot into the classroom in several ways. 1. If you can teach material, you clearly know the material---students will utilize the telepresence robots to teach scientific visualization to one another to increase and deepen subject understanding and to determine strengths . A telepresence robot will allow students to teach material and receive immediate, real time feedback. 2. Personalized learning- Telepresence robots can be used to provide individualized feedback to increase personalized learning through collaboration and coaching 3. Operation, Set up and Troubleshooting- students will learn how to troubleshoot inevitable hiccups the robot may have, such an activity increases student’s confidence in technology and boosts their workplace/college application competitiveness 4. Telepresence robots allow classrooms to collaborate across the curriculum. For example, students in my class can remotely coach students in another subject on software use, for example, to help them create more engaging presentations. 5. Telepresence robots can be used to broadcast classroom activities real time to homebound students to keep students with extended absences from falling behind. 6. Each summer, we teach a technology camp for middle school students, a telepresence robot could be used to engage and recruit students from camp into STEAM
