Your generosity has helped us build a calmer, more welcoming, and more student-centered classroom space where students can read, reflect, create, and proudly share their work. We are using the new resources to support both literacy and social-emotional learning. The gentle lighting helps us begin class with a calmer tone, and the display materials allow student work to be presented with care and pride, almost like a classroom gallery.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were excited that the classroom felt more intentional and welcoming. They noticed the lighting, the frames, and the display updates right away. For many students, seeing their work displayed neatly and beautifully sends an important message: their voices matter, their effort matters, and their learning deserves to be celebrated. These materials have helped make our classroom feel less like just another room and more like a space built for belonging, creativity, and confidence.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using these resources during literacy projects, classroom discussions, and our schoolwide Celebration of Learning. Students will read and respond to texts connected to identity, justice, empathy, and community, then create pieces that can be revised, displayed, and shared with others. Because of your support, students now have more opportunities to regulate their emotions, engage deeply with meaningful texts, and present their learning in ways that feel professional and empowering.","fullyFundedDate":1756243719303,"projectUrl":"project/justice-joy-and-wellness-studio-sel-r/9645226/","projectTitle":"Justice, Joy and Wellness Studio: SEL Representation","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Melody Ramnath","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7910328_orig.jpg?crop=549,549,x0,y36&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1630219826514","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-ramnath"},{"teacherId":7910328,"projectId":9597335,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our Build the Shot with Physical Arts: ELA, Technology, Production Workflows project. Your support has helped us bring real production tools into our ELA classroom so students can connect reading, writing, visual storytelling, and career readiness in a hands-on way. In our classroom, technology is not being used just for screen time. It helps students plan, document, revise, and present their thinking. These resources give students more ways to move from an idea on the page to a polished product they can share with an audience.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part of this project is that students now have access to tools that make their work feel more real and professional. The camera, tripod, lighting, mini photo printer, sticky-back photo paper, markers, and planning materials will help students build storyboards, mood boards, contact sheets, zine-style pages, and displays connected to the texts and themes we study. Instead of only talking about tone, mood, sequence, and audience, students can now experiment with those ideas physically and visually.\r\n\r\nThis project gives students more entry points into literacy. Some students are strongest when they can sketch, arrange, build, photograph, or talk through their ideas before writing. These materials make that possible. As we continue developing classroom projects, students will use the tools to plan shots, capture images, annotate printed drafts, revise their choices, and prepare work for critique and exhibition. Thank you for helping us build a classroom where students can practice communication, creativity, collaboration, and professional presentation in meaningful ways.","fullyFundedDate":1758802081072,"projectUrl":"project/build-the-shot-with-physical-arts-ela/9597335/","projectTitle":"Build the Shot with Physical Arts: ELA, Technology, Production Workflows","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Melody Ramnath","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7910328_orig.jpg?crop=549,549,x0,y36&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1630219826514","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-ramnath"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_134127","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":401,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":13,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":53,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":134127,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Robert Halmi Academy of Film and Television on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Robert Halmi Academy of Film and Television","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/yonkers-public-schools/robert-halmi-academy-of-film-and-television/134127"}
