These new resources have already made such a positive difference in our classroom.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they first saw the new materials. They immediately wanted to explore the Magnetiles and see what they could build. The carpet circles were also an instant hit! We use them every day during whole-group lessons, morning meetings, discussions, and other times when students gather together. Having their own designated spot helps students know where to sit and makes our classroom routines run more smoothly.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the Magnetiles during STEM activities and independent choice time. Students have worked together to design and build different structures, testing what makes their buildings strong and stable. I have loved watching them problem-solve, share ideas, and make changes when their first design doesn't work. They are practicing creativity, communication, collaboration, and perseverance without even realizing how much they are learning!\r\n\r\nThe sensory toys have also become an important part of our classroom. Students can use them during independent work, transition times, or when they need a short break to help themselves refocus. Having these resources available gives students an appropriate way to manage their energy and return to learning ready to participate.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching a group of students work together on a Magnetile structure. What started as individual building quickly became a team project as students began sharing pieces, discussing their designs, and helping each other solve problems. Meanwhile, our carpet circles have become a familiar part of our daily classroom community, giving students a comfortable and consistent place to learn together.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue incorporating the Magnetiles into STEM challenges where students will design, build, test, and improve their creations. We will also continue using the sensory toys and carpet circles throughout our daily routines to help students stay comfortable, focused, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our classroom and giving my students new opportunities to create, explore, problem-solve, and learn through hands-on experiences. Your generosity is helping make our classroom a place where students can learn in different ways and feel excited to come to school!","fullyFundedDate":1781201839623,"projectUrl":"project/create-a-comfy-space/10286862/","projectTitle":"Create a Comfy Space","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lila","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10510104"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_22240","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":508,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":41,"percentWhite":23,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":11,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"12.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":67.6,"schoolId":22240,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Salem - Hyde Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Salem - Hyde Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/syracuse-city-school-district/salem-hyde-elementary-school/22240"}
