The handheld translation devices have already begun to transform how my students access learning and connect with one another. Many of my students are multilingual learners who are incredibly capable but often held back by language barriers. These devices give them immediate access to meaning, whether they are reading a text, participating in a discussion, or collaborating with a peer. Instead of waiting, guessing, or shutting down, they can engage in real time. That shift from hesitation to participation is powerful.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting is how quickly students have taken ownership of these tools. They are not using them passively; they are using them to take risks. I have seen students who were previously quiet begin contributing to conversations, asking questions, and even helping classmates. The devices have created more independence and dignity in the learning process. Students are no longer relying solely on me or a translated worksheet. They have a tool that empowers them in the moment.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stood out was watching a student use the device to understand a complex idea, then immediately turn and explain it to a partner in English. That is the kind of growth we hope for, not just comprehension, but confidence. Your support has helped create a classroom where language is no longer a barrier, but a bridge. Thank you for investing in my students and believing in their potential.","fullyFundedDate":1767739180323,"projectUrl":"project/handheld-translation-devices/9979751/","projectTitle":"Handheld Translation Devices","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wojehowski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10302341"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_23034","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1452,"numTeachers":112,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":39,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":40,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":null,"schoolId":23034,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Suffern High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Suffern High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/suffern-central-school-district/suffern-high-school/23034"}
