Knowing that my students would be able to start the new calendar year with additional supplies to help them get organized and keep them engaged in class activities, was an incredible feeling. We started using the Post-it flags right away to support their independent reading. I divided the different colored flags into individual pouches that my students pick up on their way into the classroom. While they read, they use different colors to mark things that they notice in their self-selected novels. After an independent reading session, students then use their markings to take notes that will eventually help them on their year-end exam and while writing their capstone research papers. \r\nSome students remove the flags from their books as they take notes, but many more of them have let the flags accumulate in their novels, and as you can see from the pictures, it creates a colorful record of their progress! I've also been using the binders to help organize our unit materials and we've begun incorporating the colored stickers in everything from group assignments to labeling the materials in their notebooks. Thank you very much for your generous donation to our classroom! It has already made a tangible difference for me and my students.","fullyFundedDate":1767202507781,"projectUrl":"project/lets-get-organized/9809449/","projectTitle":"Let's Get Organized!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Coppola","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10306041"},{"teacherId":6784727,"projectId":9850764,"letterContent":"On behalf of our Locked-In to Lock-Out Cancer club, thank you for your incredible generosity and support! Many of my students have commented that stories are helping them expand their vocabulary, reflect on grammar rules and work on proper pronunciation. \r\n\r\nThe stories chosen are a little cheeky. This age groups enjoys the challenges the characters get themselves into. It's fun watching them see how to stories unfold. In groups, we have been discussing new vocabulary, describing the characters and voting on where the stories are going with foreshadowing in the books. \r\n\r\nOverall, the experience of reading an entire chapter book in Spanish is new to these students.
