Your generosity has already made such a wonderful difference in our learning environment. These tables give my students more space to work together, complete hands-on activities, and learn in a comfortable and inviting setting.\r\n\r\nMy kindergarten students were so excited when they first saw the new tables! They immediately wanted to know where they would be sitting and what we would be doing at them. One of my favorite moments was watching them gather around the tables and eagerly begin talking about all the activities they could do there. For young learners, having a classroom space that feels fresh, welcoming, and designed just for them makes a big difference.\r\n\r\nWe will be using the tables every day for small-group reading and phonics lessons, math activities, centers, art projects, and collaborative learning. One of our upcoming projects is continuing our work with letters, sounds, and early reading skills. Students will use the new tables during small-group instruction to practice building words, writing letters, reading simple words, and working together with their classmates.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, these tables will become part of so many important kindergarten moments—from learning to read their first words to solving math problems, creating artwork, and working together as a team. The students immediately noticed how calm and welcoming the space felt with the sensory tools, plants, and organized bookshelf. Many students wanted to explore the different tools and talked about which items they thought would help them focus best. Several students commented that the classroom felt more \"peaceful\". Students are using the sensory corner during independent reading, writing workshop, and small-group instruction as a way to reset and refocus when they are feeling overwhelmed or distracted. One especially meaningful moment happened during a personal narrative writing lesson. A student who was feeling frustrated and shutting down asked to use the sensory corner for a few minutes. They used the breathing ball and weighted plush while sitting with one of the calming pillows, then returned to their desk ready to continue writing. By the end of class, that student completed more writing than they had all week and proudly shared their work with classmates. Moments like that have shown students that it is okay to recognize their emotions and use healthy strategies to manage them. Our next steps are to continue helping students connect emotional regulation strategies to their academic growth and independence. As the year continues, students will continue learning to advocate for themselves, manage stress in healthy ways, and create positive habits that will support them as they transition to middle school.","fullyFundedDate":1773340833062,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-big-feelings-in-fifth-grade/9980421/","projectTitle":"Supporting Big Feelings in Fifth Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Holmes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8139481"},{"teacherId":6473849,"projectId":10050659,"letterContent":"I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for your incredible generosity and support.
