My students have thoroughly enjoyed all of the new gifts you have given to them. The items given for our Zen Den - the liquid timers, SEL Little Spot Books and stuffed emotion spots have been so helpful when students are upset, sad, or just need a break from being frustrated. The go into the Zen Den and watch the timers, hold the stuffed spots and even glance through the book. They now can communicate their feeling colors and how to help themselves calm their mind and body.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived to our classroom and I shared with them how a generous person donated these to us the class couldn't believe how someone who didn't know them would just give them things. I opened the magnetic letters/numbers/shape boards and they all clapped and ran to them wanting to be the first to play with these great new educational toys. The marble run was such a hit - that day students were working together to create their first marble runs - figuring out how to make them work, run better, and racing marbles down them. The other brain engaging toys were out at centers and the class loved working with ta partner trying to follow the steps to make the marble jump through the cubes and across to another cube. All of these items have made our center time more exciting.\r\nAs the new year progresses, these items will take on a new challenge as students grow and learn how to make more difficult marble runs. The number/letter center continues to be a great reinforcement and practice of skills for students who continue to need some extra help in this area.
