Instead of struggling to sit still, students can use the gentle movement of the seats to help them regulate their bodies while keeping their attention on instruction.\r\n\r\nWe have seen students become more engaged during lessons, more comfortable during independent work, and better able to participate in classroom activities. Since receiving the rug, my students gather on it throughout the day for morning meetings, read-alouds, phonics lessons, songs, movement breaks, and classroom discussions. It has truly become the heart of our classroom where so much of our learning takes place.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the rug, they were so excited! They immediately wanted to sit on it and explore their new learning space. It has given us a comfortable and welcoming place to come together as a class, and my students have quickly learned that the rug is a special place where we listen, learn, share, and work together.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments has been watching my students gather together on the rug during our lessons. Whether we are practicing letter sounds, reading a story, or sharing something exciting from our day, the rug helps bring everyone together and makes learning feel like a community experience.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, we will keep using our rug as the main gathering space for our kindergarten lessons and activities. We are so grateful to our donors for helping create a classroom environment where my students feel comfortable, connected, and excited to learn.
