You have helped us create a safe place where safety, sustenance and mental health matters. Our kids can take intellectual risks when all the other needs are addressed and trust is built.\r\n\r\nWe were able to set up a table during our parent teacher conference to give families in need winter hats, gloves and a cozy lap blanket. This was a huge success. We put out donated books for all ages to take home. The books you donated to us are slotted for kids who come to us in need of help with depression, anxiety, healthy living inspiration and self love. We believe reading should be also tied to family and love- not just a test at the end of the year. We believe that nurturing the whole child and family is the key to success. \r\n\r\nBecause of you, that vision can come to life!","fullyFundedDate":1768613390464,"projectUrl":"project/warmth-care-and-sustenance-in-uncertain/10021563/","projectTitle":"Warmth, Care and Sustenance in Uncertain Times.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hoop","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp465641_orig.jpg?crop=2165,2165,x326,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1579200469643","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/465641"},{"teacherId":8231342,"projectId":9543309,"letterContent":"The other day, I sat with some teachers, and we marveled at how generous people have been to my students and me through your donations. This project included several components that I use in all my classes and have also donated to other teachers for use with their students. My high school classes have used all donated materials to complete projects, labs, and group work multiple times this year. This year, I am teaching Regents Biology, Forensics, and Anatomy and Physiology. These are just a few of the activities we have done so far.\r\nMy students have used rulers and poster paper to draw crime scenes and analyze hair evidence. Cutting and gluing notes and pictures into their notebooks, as well as piecing together puzzle reviews for processes such as learning photosynthesis and respiration. We have hung student work with tape to display it in the hallways and around the room. Pencil sharpeners are very useful in all classes: for colored pencils to make notes stand out, for drawing pictures of cells under the microscope, or even for learning different bones and muscles in anatomy classes. Students are more organized and remember homework because it is copied onto the yellow copy paper. We are also required to perform new state labs with multiple parts. Having different-colored paper has allowed me to provide my classes and other teachers' classes with paper for different parts of those labs, helping students stay organized. \r\nThe materials you all were so gracious to donate have really helped me run my classes so that students are focused on group work and peer review. I have so many more projects, laboratories, and activities for them to complete as the year progresses, and you are supporting that endeavor, so thank you!","fullyFundedDate":1757637941420,"projectUrl":"project/filling-the-closet-back-up-for-the-year/9543309/","projectTitle":"Filling The Closet Back Up For The Year","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. N. We were able to put books into the hands of elementary, junior high and high school students who attended our school events February 2025 and the Welcome back even this fall. It is important for us to promote literacy with materials that are reflective of the community we teach in. \r\n\r\nAlong with the books, we created a pamphlet for families to take that included local and online resources that support literacy and information on developmental stages, vocabulary and reading. For this reason, the board books were a big success. Our goal is to get teen and adult's who are sharpening their reading to read to children at home. Recently, we started a classroom activity where students explored mindfulness exercises, journaling prompts, and discussion guides designed to help them reflect on stress, emotions, and coping strategies. One memorable moment was during a small-group session: students shared personal strategies for managing stress, and it was inspiring to hear their thoughtful, honest responses. Seeing them connect and support one another reminded me why this work is so important.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions were a mix of curiosity and excitement. Many expressed relief that there were tools available to help them navigate challenges they often face in and out of school. The resources sparked immediate engagement—students were eager to try the activities and even asked for more ways to continue exploring mental wellness topics.\r\n\r\nNext, we plan to build on this momentum by integrating these resources into a longer-term project focused on personal reflection and peer support. Students will create wellness portfolios, track their progress, and develop presentations to share strategies that work for them with the class. Your contributions have not only provided the tools to start these important conversations but have also set the stage for meaningful, ongoing growth in our classroom community.
