The healthy snacks gave students access to nutritious food during the school day, helping them feel more comfortable, focused, and ready to learn. For some students, having a snack available meant they could concentrate on their schoolwork rather than worrying about being hungry.\r\n\r\nThe warm gloves and hats were equally important during the colder months. Having these items available allowed students to stay warm on their way to and from school and participate more comfortably in outdoor activities. These simple necessities also helped students feel cared for and supported.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project showed my students that their school community believes in them and cares about their well-being. When students know that their basic needs are being considered, they are better able to engage academically, build confidence, and feel a stronger sense of belonging. I am incredibly grateful to the donors who helped make this possible and supported my students both inside and outside of the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1769298939941,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-student-well-being-through-sn/10051903/","projectTitle":"Supporting Student Well-Being Through Snacks and Warmth","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Chavarria","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1649253_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1479419974624","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/denise-chavarria"},{"teacherId":7168728,"projectId":8914823,"letterContent":"Our middle schoolers were so proud that they were able to give their peers the things that they asked for. Our Student Council has an election process where students in all three grades vote on representatives. Through this, we create a council that campaigns on student wishes for school climate, improvement and positive impact. Our President, Walter, promised that he would find a way to bring in more athletic equipt for the school. He was delighted to be able to make that promise into a reality. Thank you.. Sometimes the only space in the day for kids to just be kids is when they are outside playing. At our school, soccer is very prevalent and the kids absolutely love engaging in games any chance they can! So much is revealed during play. Social emotional learning is constant and being able to physically engage without pressures of money or language is a beautiful thing.","fullyFundedDate":1734988010290,"projectUrl":"project/soccer-balls-goals-for-title-one-middl/8914823/","projectTitle":"Soccer Balls & Goals for Title One Middle School","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. DiCuio","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7168728_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1583854343940","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7168728"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_23735","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":821,"numTeachers":56,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":13,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":76,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.9,"schoolId":23735,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Peekskill Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Peekskill Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/peekskill-city-school-district/peekskill-middle-school/23735"}
