Our first task required students to listen to a math story about numbers within 10, then find ways to make 10 (introduction to addition within 10). Students worked at their whiteboard with a random partner, using one marker and eraser, to collaborate and share ideas and model one way to make 10. Some students used pictures, magnetic counters, number lines, or equations. Due to the boards being vertical, we were able to have the boards visible to students around the classroom. This allowed students to check in with other boards if they got stuck to help guide their thinking as a quick check-in. We \"museum walked\" around the classroom once partnerships completed their work to check out what our classmates came up with. These boards truly allowed us to fully implement a 'thinking classroom' model in our classroom. \r\n\r\nStudents were excited, our principal loved it, and most of all, we were so thankful to have these new boards to try something new! We are looking forward to implementing many more thinking tasks to get students excited for math, develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, and practice collaboration skills!","fullyFundedDate":1736528089388,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-students-in-thinking-classrooms/8993144/","projectTitle":"Engaging Students In Thinking Classrooms With Vertical Whiteboards","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gulli","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6136508_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724685331310","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6136508"},{"teacherId":6136508,"projectId":8994026,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping us have cleaning supplies in the classroom to keep our class healthy and safe!
