It is oval-shaped and depicts young children from around the world dressed in clothing which represents the heritage of that land.\r\n\r\nWhen the children first saw the carpet, they were incredibly excited! Shouts of, \"That looks like me!\" and \"That could be Nasser!\" were heard as kids walked the perimeter of the rug to examine each face. It has been about two and a half weeks, but even so, each day at least one child makes a new \"discovery\" while crossing over or sitting on the carpet. It has truly brought our space together in a very special, unique way.\r\n\r\nAs you can see from the photographs, the carpet is getting a lot of use. Each day is different, but so far we've used it for small-group instruction, pair-work, and independent reading. As teachers, we're especially grateful because the carpet is of very high-quality, and will stand up to many years of use by little people.","fullyFundedDate":1766598303340,"projectUrl":"project/launchpad-for-english-language-learning/9908844/","projectTitle":"Launchpad for English Language Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Cook","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp487402_orig.jpg?crop=272,272,x180,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762696084680","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/487402"},{"teacherId":487402,"projectId":9885624,"letterContent":"It is with sincere, humble gratitude that I thank you for contributing to our project, \"Whoa! Awesome! Gross! That's What it Really Looks Like??!?\" The kids were blown away when they saw the three-foot tall skeleton, the 36\" spinal column, and of course, they LOVED pulling out all the internal organs from the Human Body Model. The most interesting reaction came from a student who was admiring the spinal column. She was trying to \"trace\" the vertebrae in her spine with one hand as she ran her finger along the model and called out (in a slight tone of disgust), \"My bones are just like my dog's bones! Eww!\" But she then made the very real connection that humans are mammals, dogs are mammals, and we share quite a bit in common as a result. \r\nWe're currently using these models to investigate how the different body systems work together. We're very excited to be able to incorporate these models at the beginning of our study on the human body next year, and for many years to come!\r\nGreat thanks to you for making this possible!","fullyFundedDate":1763587152822,"projectUrl":"project/whoa-awesome-gross-thats-what-it-rea/9885624/","projectTitle":"Whoa! The students were able to make many new and challenging projects from pencil toppers, fish and snails with flair! \r\n\r\n Winter has been challenging this year, TOO MUCH SNOW!! The snow blocks our kiln vent so we had to wait for the white stuff to melt away before we can get back into the rest of our ceramic units, and this week has been helping out a lot!
