Headphones help keep students focused and engaged by reducing outside noise and distractions while using an electronic device (chrome books). Research has shown that by limiting distractions, students are more invested in their learning and are better able to comprehend the material. Technology is increasingly playing a bigger role in children's education each year, therefore making headphones a vital tool for all students. Students will be able to independently get their headphones and log on to necessary learning tools without distraction. Additionally, if our school ever needs to move to remote learning at any point throughout the year, students have the ability to continue to receive quality education without home distractions. It is important to give students as much independence throughout the classroom (and at home if necessary) as possible. The greater independence my students have the more time I have available to address student needs. Finally, given the tremendous financial stressors families are facing during this current time, it is extremely important for all students to be able to receive the same quality of education by using reliable headphones regardless of their family's financial situation. This grant will provide all FOUR of our kindergarten classrooms (for years to come) at Roxboro Elementary with the reliable headphones students need to receive a consistent and equal education and to find success in the technology education world!
