There is nothing quite like watching a child's face light up when they discover a new favorite book, and thanks to your generosity, that joy can now continue in both English and Spanish.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been incredible. My students are even more eager to read when they can access beloved stories in both languages. Their comprehension has improved as they make connections between English and Spanish, and they are becoming more confident in transferring what they know in one language to the other. Seeing familiar characters and stories in Spanish has helped them expand their vocabulary, strengthen their biliteracy skills, and engage more deeply with texts.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these books are helping my students see that reading is not limited to one language. They are experiencing the joy of stories across cultures, celebrating their bilingual identities, and continuing to grow into lifelong readers.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make that possible. Your support is creating opportunities for my students to learn, connect, and fall even more deeply in love with reading every day.","fullyFundedDate":1779371027156,"projectUrl":"project/stories-we-love-now-in-spanish/10273338/","projectTitle":"Stories We Love, Now in Spanish!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pimentel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7724803_orig.png?crop=1086,1086,x0,y181&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1781752647866","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7724803"},{"teacherId":7724803,"projectId":9974760,"letterContent":"A Dragon-Sized Thank You!\r\nFrom the moment my students stepped into the hallway, the excitement was palpable! Their eyes doubled in size when they saw our classroom door transformed by a vibrant dragon haging in the door, welcoming them to the Lunar New Year. The \"oohs\" and \"aahs\" didn't stop there. As soon as they saw the red envelopes and golden coins waiting for them, they knew this wasn't just a normal school day. They were absolutely eager to dive into every detail of the traditions, and it was a joy to see them so captivated by the colors and symbols of luck and prosperity.\r\n\r\nWe spent our day as true explorers, diving into bilingual stories and building a \"Fact Chart\" to track everything we learned. The students were fascinated to discover that we are celebrating the Year of the Horse, and they channeled that energy into creating their own beautiful paper lanterns and dragon crafts. The highlight was undoubtedly the \"Grand Finale\": watching their faces light up as they opened their red envelopes for good luck and cracked open their fortune cookies. Hearing them giggle while reading their fortunes and practicing their new Chinese vocabulary, shouting \"Nǐ hǎo!\" and \"Zài jiàn!\" to one another, was a moment I wish you could have seen in person!\r\n\r\nYour generosity didn't just buy supplies; it created a core memory for these children. The materials have allowed students to fully engage in caring for their pets, organizing their supplies, and participating in meaningful hands-on learning. One special moment was watching students proudly plan their purchases, count their paw bucks, and choose the perfect home for their new pet. There was so much excitement and focus in the room.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their eyes lit up. They were buzzing with questions, ideas, and pure joy. Many of them said they had \"never seen anything so cool\" in the classroom, and they immediately wanted to start earning and saving so they could participate in our class \"pet store.\" Their enthusiasm turned the project into something they look forward to every single day.\r\n\r\nAs we continue this project, our next steps include introducing small \"pet challenges,\" such as writing about their desk pet, creating habitats, and practicing real-life math skills like saving, spending, and budgeting. These activities will help students build responsibility, strengthen academic skills, and stay motivated. Thanks to our donors, this project will continue to grow and bring joyful, meaningful learning opportunities into our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1758636827438,"projectUrl":"project/fur-fun-and-friendship-the-class-pet-pro/9478081/","projectTitle":"Fur Fun and Friendship The Class Pet Project!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lloyd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp191324_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1567272928050","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/191324"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_22380","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":650,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":49,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":22,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":60,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"K - 3","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.3,"schoolId":22380,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Stony Point Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Stony Point Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/north-rockland-central-school-district/stony-point-elementary-school/22380"}
