The headphones allow for them to listen to the educational videos, and have academic sites read to them to increase their retention of information. The microphone assist them in talk-to-speech operations and video/motion capture, preparing them for the future. The fact that they think they look cool and get their work done -- is a win-win! \r\n\r\nOnce again, I am overwhelmed with thanks for your generous donations. I asked for dictionaries and thesauruses because every student is obsessed with spelling their words correctly. So much so, that it would interrupt their thinking and writing processes. Previously, I only had one children's dictionary. I actually have three students that will sit down and read the dictionary! \r\n\r\nWith reading and writing fluency becoming harder and taking longer for students to grasp, it is more important than ever. Every project we do, every book we read, the students are using the dictionaries and thesauruses! We even had a set period in our schedule for Novel Studies. This is our favorite part of the day!\r\n\r\nWe had a pleasant surprise when we had to change up our schedule, and now the dictionaries and thesauruses are being used, not only by my fourth graders, but also by the fifth and sixth graders as well. We have doubled the impact from 11 students to 22.
