The Toniebox has been a very beneficial screen-free technology device used in our classroom. This device has shown improvement in children's independent play, literacy skills like exposure to new vocabulary. Students have shown independent play as they get to go to the library throughout the day (where the toniebox is located) and get to choose any story they want to hear when they pick the toniebox figurine of their choice. They have full control of how many times they want to hear the story or when want to use it. Children using this device has given them regular exposure to stories and it introduces new words to them. I have noticed that children will come up to me and talk about the story they are listening to while using new words from the stories. \r\n\r\nWhen the children go to the library, they get excited they get to choose what story they want to hear. Some children already have their favorite toniebox figurines they like to put on the toniebox everytime they go to the library center. They get happy they get to lay down on the carpet and put the tonxiebox next to their ear and just listen to the story. There is a child in the classroom that struggled to sleep during nap time. Ever since we have had the toniebox he would use it and would go to sleep hearing a story!
