This is the first year that our center is applying STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) along with the Dept. of Education’s Pre K units of study. As of the moment, since it is a new program we do not have enough materials and supplies for the children to work with. I work with six different classrooms which is roughly about 100 students. These materials will help the children learn about the different units by exploring on their own. The children will then become more confident and capable in their learning because these materials give them the opportunity to learn through open ended experiences. The materials that I requested is a whole set of new STEM materials that can be applied in each unit. The STEM bundle contains materials not only for the children to learn from but also will help me to get a better understanding of how to incorporate STEAM into the lessons. The bundle contains different building materials for the children to construct and build whatever they’re interested in, materials for the children to learn about water and the importance of it, and much more everyday objects for them to explore and learn.
