Your generosity means so much to me as a teacher because it helps me provide my students with the tools they need to learn, grow, and feel confident in the classroom. One of my biggest goals is to create a learning environment where every student feels supported, prepared, and excited to come to school each day. Having these supplies helps me make that goal a reality and gives my students more opportunities to participate in meaningful learning experiences.\r\n\r\nMy students use pencils, dry erase boards, and markers during our daily reading, writing, and math lessons. These materials allow them to practice new skills, show their thinking, and participate in activities in different ways. For example, during math lessons, students can solve problems on their dry erase boards and hold them up to share their answers. This gives me the opportunity to see what students understand and where they might need additional support. During reading and writing, students can practice spelling words, sounding out unfamiliar words, and writing sentences. Having these supplies available allows students to participate actively instead of simply watching me model a skill.\r\n\r\nOne of the things I love most about teaching is watching students become more confident in themselves. Sometimes, a student who is hesitant to answer a question becomes excited when they realize they can solve a problem independently. Dry erase boards are especially helpful because students can make mistakes, erase their work, and try again without feeling discouraged. I want my students to understand that learning takes practice and that making mistakes is a normal part of growing. The laminating sheets also allow me to create durable, reusable learning materials that students can use repeatedly throughout the school year. This helps me prepare activities that support different learning needs while making the most of our classroom resources.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, I believe every child deserves access to the materials they need to succeed. I know that something as simple as having a pencil or a dry erase marker can make a difference in a student's ability to participate in a lesson. I want my students to spend less time worrying about whether they have the supplies they need and more time exploring new ideas, asking questions, and discovering what they are capable of accomplishing. These resources also help me create engaging activities that encourage students to work independently, collaborate with classmates, and take pride in their learning.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this project possible and for believing in my students. Your kindness helps me continue building a classroom where children feel seen, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. I am grateful for your generosity and for the opportunity to give my students the positive learning experiences they deserve. Your support is making a meaningful difference in our classroom, and I cannot thank you enough for being part of our journey!","fullyFundedDate":1789618597074,"projectUrl":"project/getting-started-with-a-fresh-new-year/10539521/","projectTitle":"Getting Started with a Fresh New Year","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Blackwell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10194901_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755730404176","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10194901"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_131600","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":140,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":3,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":61,"percentWhite":24,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":131600,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Buffalo Commons Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Buffalo Commons Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-state-department-education/buffalo-commons-charter-school/131600"}
