Your donations have helped us create meaningful items that uplift our members and the community. Through your kindness, our students have been given the opportunity to slow down, express themselves creatively, and experience the pride that comes from making something with their own hands.\r\n\r\nWe've been able to share these handmade pieces with the residents of the HANAC Senior Center, bringing joy, comfort, and a sense of connection to the elderly who receive them. For many of our students, being able to give back in such a personal way has been incredibly meaningful, reinforcing the value of compassion and community.\r\n\r\nYour generosity makes all of this possible. First off, they make the behind-the-scenes stuff way more engaging. Instead of just reading from a printed script, kids can co-write scenes together on a shared doc, add notes right in the margins, or even link a line to a cool video example of how to deliver it. They can also film their rehearsals to instantly watch themselves back—which is a game-changer for working on stuff like volume, expressions, and stage presence without the pressure of a live audience right away.\r\n\r\nPlus, tablets help everyone get involved in the way that works best for them. They're awesome for organization, keeping schedules, scripts, and project instructions in one spot. For students who might be shy about performing, a tablet can be a backstage pass to other crucial roles: they can run sound effects, design a poster, create a playlist for a scene, or help storyboard the action. Basically, it lets the class put on a more polished show while making sure every kid has a fun and important job to do.","fullyFundedDate":1756999800125,"projectUrl":"project/tablets-for-voice-and-choice/9674719/","projectTitle":"Tablets for Voice and Choice","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stanton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1414757_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1474237722391","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dramateach82"},{"teacherId":1974573,"projectId":9799543,"letterContent":"We are having a blast making our paper dolls with the materials you helped purchase! The creativity shown by my students is unreal! There is such a big variety of themes, characters, and creatures being made: we have a spider woman doll, a Marie Antoinette inspired doll, dolls inspired by flowers, bees, and beetles. \r\n\r\nMy students really loved seeing the variety of papers available for them to use for their creations. They were overjoyed (and maybe a little overwhelmed) by the amount of color and texture that was available. They especially loved the fun pink hole punchers and the cute mini brads used to connect all of the doll parts together.\r\n\r\nOnce the dolls are finished, I'm having the student make a background that goes with their doll, creating a setting/scene for it, completing the look for this project.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and helping out our small school in Astoria.","fullyFundedDate":1760842876346,"projectUrl":"project/paper-dolls/9799543/","projectTitle":"Paper Dolls!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Baratta Kammerer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1974573_orig.jpg?crop=981,981,x309,y144&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1579621497010","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/michelle-baratta"},{"teacherId":1099697,"projectId":9710924,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our middle school Digital Media class has been transformed into a bustling film studio, buzzing with creativity and collaboration. For many of our students, this project is their first deep dive into the \"how\" behind the media they consume every day. While they are digital natives, this project has taught them to be digital creators. The technology is not just a flashy tool; it's the engine for developing vital skills. They're learning patience and precision through stop-motion animation, problem-solving when a scene doesn't work as planned, and the art of visual storytelling by seeing their narratives come to life, frame by frame. This hands-on process makes abstract concepts like sequencing and persistence tangible and rewarding.\r\n\r\nThe ability to instantly review their footage, experiment with different angles, and add sound effects and music has empowered them to iterate and improve their work with incredible enthusiasm.
