Your cooking pots, spatulas and spoons have transformed our special education culinary class in tangible ways. My students are using the new resources to explore safe food handling and following multi-step recipes. One standout moment was when we prepared a pot of noodles: students were excited to cook using the pot and spatulas in stirring the noodles, practiced following a recipe card, and collaborated to present their bowls. The hands-on experience helped reinforce fine motor skills, sequencing, and teamwork, while also giving students a sense of pride in creating something they can share with the class.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the classroom lit up with excitement. Some students squealed with delight at the colorful tools, while others paused to examine each utensil with curiosity, The new resources gave them a tangible connection to the concepts we've been learning like kitchen safety, sanitation, and the importance of following steps. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the next steps involve a nutrition-focused lesson where students track a week of meals using the new cookware, discuss portion sizes, and practice budgeting a small grocery list. We'll also launch a \"recipe builder\" project where students adapt a simple recipe to meet individual dietary needs and preferences, documenting their process with photos and a short reflection. Your support has created a bridge between classroom instruction and real-world life skills, and we're excited to continue building independence, collaboration, and a joy of cooking for every student.","fullyFundedDate":1746894767570,"projectUrl":"project/empower-future-chefs-kitchen-tools-for/9271233/","projectTitle":"Empower Future Chefs: Kitchen Tools for Life Skills Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. C","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9736480"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_125645","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":67.3,"schoolId":125645,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about The Riverview School 277Q@485 Grover Cleveland on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"The Riverview School 277Q@485 Grover Cleveland","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/the-riverview-school-277q-485-grover-cleveland/125645"}
