My tough class, which often induces anxiety before they come in, went really well. I had a hypothesis that they were less able to focus and chattier at this time because they still have an hour to go until lunch. It seemed I was proven right even before they sat down, because one student came in and said \"I'm hungry,\" before even seeing the spread of snacks alongside the do now handouts on the front table. I gave them a few minutes to eat while they had their do now question, and there was more focus, less chatter, and overall more work done. I don't want to declare it a perfect class, because there are still those stragglers who aren't managing their time well yet, but it was progress. It was thanks to you that I was able to even begin to work on this problem - the snacks made a difference. As long as they last, I'm going to keep bringing them out for classes and to entice more students to stay for clubs. Next week we will be using the tape on behavior choice chambers, and students will be labeling their variables for their experiments.
