We practice steady beat, simple patterns, and call-and-response songs together. One special moment happened when we played a song where each group had just two notes to play at the right time. The students worked so hard to watch, listen, and come in together, and when it all lined up, their faces lit up with pride. The instruments have helped even our youngest learners feel like real musicians as they explore high and low sounds, loud and soft playing, and how to work as a team.\r\nWhen the instruments were first revealed, the room filled with excitement—big smiles, happy gasps, and lots of \"Are those for us?!\" Right now, we are focusing on taking turns, using gentle mallet technique, and playing simple patterns to accompany familiar songs. Next, students will begin creating their own short sound patterns and performing them for their classmates.
