When the frogs first arrived, students gasped and crowded around the habitat. Many had never seen a live frog up close before. They immediately began asking questions and carefully observing how the frogs moved and behaved. The excitement was real and it has continued every day since.\r\n\r\nThe idea to keep frogs quickly spread throughout our school. The interest in hands on learning inspired us to grow even more. We have since adopted reptiles, including a bearded dragon, and we have welcomed rescued guinea pigs into our school family. What started with frogs has grown into a small reptile room that students are very proud of. They help care for the animals, learn about habitats and adaptations, and practice responsibility and teamwork.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include expanding our reptile room and continuing to build lessons around real life observation and research. Your support has helped bring science to life in a way that books alone never could. Thank you for making such a meaningful difference for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1764780203918,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-students-bring-science-to-life/9795805/","projectTitle":"Help Our Students Bring Science To Life With Pet Frogs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Itara","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10302730"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_702","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":500,"numTeachers":49,"percentFrplEligible":94,"percentAsian":15,"percentBlack":20,"percentWhite":14,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":46,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.7,"schoolId":702,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 90 Edna Cohen School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 90 Edna Cohen School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-90-edna-cohen-school/702"}
