With the new supplies, our classroom was transformed into a hands-on science lab where students could observe the complete life cycle of butterflies up close. We were able to purchase caterpillar kits, magnifying lenses, observation journals that helped bring abstract concepts to life in a tangible and exciting way.\r\n\r\nStudents who had only read about metamorphosis in textbooks were now able to witness it firsthand. They carefully recorded daily observations, asked thoughtful questions, and developed a deeper understanding of life cycles, habitats, and the importance of caring for living things. The project also sparked curiosity and excitement about science — even among students who had previously been hesitant to participate.\r\n\r\nBeyond the science content, the experience nurtured empathy, responsibility, and teamwork as students worked together to care for the caterpillars and celebrate the release of the butterflies. The resources we were able to purchase have been very beneficial in our classroom. The students were so excited to record podcasts and were very happy they had the materials to do so. The iPad stands were perfect to help them record the podcast. Allowing students to be in charge of those materials really gave them an important sense of ownership.\r\n\r\nThe students were also very happy and excited to learn about money and use the cash boxes. They took that job very seriously and I know having the cash boxes made it feel very real to them (even when using fake money).\r\n\r\nLastly, the students used the trays and construction paper to create clay models of different landforms during their science class. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to create something hands on.
