I am a special education teacher in a 1st grade ICT classroom in Bushwick, Brooklyn. It consists of 21 amazing students who love reading. My students change books every week in our library. Unfortunately, our classroom library is small. It breaks my heart to see a small library that limits their passion for reading. My job as a teacher is to instill the love for reading and give them many opportunities. Despite our small library, I encourage them to reread the books we have. As you can see, my students are eager to learn and get inspired from books. In order to move up in reading levels, they must also practice at home and the lack of books in our library enables them to take many books home. They love reading, but do not have enough books that are at their level or they enjoy both in school or at home. Please help me create a lending library where I can provide my students with the needed materials to succeed.
