The storage bins have made a major difference in our classroom organization and the ease of finding the materials we need for each lesson. With everything now clearly labeled and within reach, students are able to take more ownership of their learning by gathering their supplies independently. It has truly helped our daily routines run more smoothly and allowed us to spend more time focused on learning.\r\n\r\nOne moment that really stood out was during a recent group science project. Students were tasked with building simple machines using different materials. In the past, finding everything we needed could take up a lot of time, but now that our supplies are neatly sorted in the new bins, students dove right into their work with excitement and confidence. Their reactions when they first saw the new system were priceless—lots of \"oohs\" and \"wows\" as they realized how easy everything was to find!\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we're continuing to work on collaborative projects that build critical thinking and creativity. With the support you've given us, my students are better prepared to take on these challenges, and our classroom feels more like a space that belongs to them. Introducing organizational tools such as zipper pouches and dedicated organizers for pens, markers, crayons, and glue sticks has made a noticeable difference in our 3rd grade classroom. With each student having a designated space for their supplies, we've seen a clear improvement in focus and independence. Transitions between activities have become quicker and smoother, as students no longer waste time looking for materials or asking to borrow from others. The sense of ownership over their supplies has encouraged students to be more responsible, take better care of their belongings, and maintain a tidier workspace.\r\n\r\nThis added structure has also led to a more peaceful and efficient learning environment. With reduced clutter and fewer interruptions from misplaced or missing items, classroom routines flow more easily and learning time is maximized. Students are more respectful of shared space and less likely to engage in conflicts over supplies. Overall, these simple tools have contributed to a calmer, more organized, and more productive classroom where students feel empowered to take charge of their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1746785270229,"projectUrl":"project/tidy-tools-for-bright-minds/9325386/","projectTitle":"Tidy Tools for Bright Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Page","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9225356_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693054463610","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9225356"},{"teacherId":9225356,"projectId":9325593,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, we've been able to access high-quality Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) resources that are directly aligned with our students' needs and interests. My students are especially excited about the colorful task cards, hands-on learning activities, and projects that allow them to express their creativity while practicing key skills.\r\n\r\nWhat's most impactful is how quickly I can respond to student needs. If a group needs extra practice or enrichment in a particular area, I can find and implement a resource almost immediately. As we read, I watched students light up with recognition, curiosity, and empathy. Afterward, we created a project reflecting on how the story made us feel — and so many students said it made them feel special, brave, and proud of who they are. It opened a meaningful conversation about self-expression and respect for our differences.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, my students are not only learning to read — they're learning to see themselves and each other with love and understanding. Up next, we're using what we've learned to build personal projects that explore identity, family, and culture through writing and art in our module three ELA lessons. These compact, programmable mini-computer have promoted enthusiasm and learning among our upper grade students, helping them see how coding works in a real setting and not just moving characters on a screen.\r\n\r\nA highlight so far has been the development of a digital \"Rock, Paper, Scissors\" game using the Micro:bits. This project has enabled students to understand coding concepts like variables and randomization. By programming the Micro:bit to randomly select between rock, paper, or scissors upon being shaken, students grasp the concept of variables and the use of random functions in coding. Students also learned to use conditional statements to dictate the Micro:bit's display based on the random selection, reinforcing their understanding of \"if-then-else\" statements. They also developed an understanding of sensors for input. Using the Micro:bit's accelerometer, students programmed the device to respond to physical gestures. \r\n\r\nBesides the coding, the use of Micro:bits also promoted an increased engagement, empowerment through creation, and inclusivity for all students. This hands-on project not only made learning to code enjoyable but also enhances problem-solving skills and logical thinking.\r\n\r\nYour support has been instrumental in providing these enriching experiences. One project that stands out is a recent circle time activity called the, socratic seminar, where we used the talking stick to guide a mindfulness discussion. Students took turns speaking about their day or feelings, and the person holding the stick was the only one allowed to speak. It helped everyone focus and created a calm, respectful atmosphere. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the items, there was an immediate sense of excitement. They were drawn to the swinging chair right away, eager to take turns, and the diffuser became a favorite as well, especially with its calming scents. They loved the soothing effect it had, creating a peaceful, welcoming space for us to gather and engage in deeper conversations. Looking ahead, I plan to integrate these resources into a mindfulness lesson, where students can practice staying present while using the cozy corner to relax and refocus.
