We recently used them during a hands-on electricity investigation where students explored how circuits work by creating \"human circuits.\" Students held hands in a circle and then added the Energy Stick, and their excitement was incredible when the stick lit up and made sounds as the circuit was completed. It was such a powerful moment because they could actually see the result of the energy transfer happening through their own bodies. This led to meaningful conversations about conductors, insulators, and how electricity travels.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw and heard these sticks, they were immediately curious and eager to experiment. There were so many gasps, laughs, and \"Whoa!\" moments as they discovered what would happen when someone let go of the circle or when different materials interrupted the circuit. Even students who are sometimes hesitant to participate became fully engaged because the activity felt like a game while still teaching important science concepts. The Energy Sticks helped make abstract ideas much more concrete and accessible for all learners.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for our students are to build on this excitement by diving deeper into investigations about electricity, energy transfer, and engineering design. Students will begin testing different materials to determine whether they are conductors or insulators and recording their observations like real scientists. We also plan to connect these lessons to simple circuit-building activities and STEM challenges where students can design solutions using what they have learned. Your generosity has helped create memorable, hands-on learning experiences that are inspiring curiosity, teamwork, and a genuine love of science in our classroom.
