Your support of our Sensory Books project has given my students opportunities they would not have had otherwise, and for that, we are deeply grateful.\r\nWhen we received the touch and feel books and sound books, the excitement in the room was immediate. My students could not wait to explore the different textures and variety of sounds. What might seem like simple supplies to some have become powerful tools for engagement, confidence, and growth in our classroom.\r\nWith these new resources, students are now able to engage more deeply in hands-on learning, build independence and confidence in their skills and see themselves as capable, curious learners.\r\nThe busyboards wnd flexible seating allowed students to remain seated for longer periods of time while engaged in the many activities the boards had to offer\r\nOne of the most meaningful moments came when a student who was resistant to imitate sounds began to repeat sounds heard from the soundbooks.. Moments like these are a direct result of your kindness. \r\nBecause of you, our classroom continues to be a place of opportunity, creativity, and encouragement. Your donation did more than fund a project. You invested in children, in their futures, and in their belief that their education matters.\r\nOn behalf of my students and our entire classroom community, thank you for believing in us. The new sensory and movement-based resources are now an essential part of our daily routine. Students use the swing and accompanying materials during scheduled sensory breaks and as part of structured OT-inspired activities to help with regulation, focus, and transitions. One especially powerful moment was watching a student who typically struggles to remain seated return from the swing calm, centered, and ready to engage in a tabletop task for the first time without redirection.\r\nWhen the students first saw the swing, their excitement was immediate and heartfelt. Smiles, clapping, and eager anticipation filled the room as they explored the new equipment in a safe and supported way. For many of my students, these tools provide more than just movement—they offer a sense of comfort, security, and control over their bodies. Several students who often experience sensory overload were visibly calmer, and others demonstrated improved attention and willingness to participate in tabletop activities.\r\nMoving forward, we will continue to integrate this resource into ongoing lessons that target self-regulation, social engagement, and learning readiness. The swing and sensory tools are helping students build the foundational skills they need to succeed academically and emotionally. Because of you, my students are gaining confidence, independence, and the ability to fully access their learning environment. Your generosity has made a lasting impact, and we are deeply grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1758898839305,"projectUrl":"project/swinging-into-success-support-for-my-s/9656159/","projectTitle":"“Swinging Into Success: Support for My Students with Autism”","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hernandez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10227120"},{"teacherId":10185420,"projectId":9617273,"letterContent":"First and foremost, I want to wish you a very happy holiday season. Thank you so much for your generosity and support.\r\n\r\nYour contribution to my classroom has truly transformed the way my students view reading. Instilling a love for reading is something I work toward every day, and having access to books that genuinely spark my students' interest has made that possible.\r\n\r\nI introduced these books through read-alouds, and students now use them during independent reading time. When it is time to change out their books, our \"DonorsChoose\" bin is always the very first one they reach for. Although we typically rotate books once a month so students have enough time to build their reading skills, many of them beg to continue reading the same stories because they are so engaged.\r\n\r\nThe Pizza and Taco by Stephen Shaskan and Fly Guy by Tedd Arnold series have been huge favorites. They are entertaining, accessible, and aligned with many students' reading levels. Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry has also been especially meaningful, as many of my students see themselves reflected in the story and its message.\r\n\r\nBecause our school library is currently not open to students, our classroom library is the primary place where they can truly lose themselves in books. Your generosity has made that space richer, more inviting, and more impactful than ever.\r\n\r\nPlease know that you are making a tremendous difference in the lives of these future leaders. Your support is helping shape confident, joyful readers, and that impact will stay with them far beyond this school year.","fullyFundedDate":1758899165488,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-1st-graders-fall-in-love-with-re/9617273/","projectTitle":"Help My 1st Graders Fall in Love With Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Peralta","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10185420_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755530997236","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10185420"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_440","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":473,"numTeachers":60,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":25,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":72,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"7.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.2,"schoolId":440,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 150 Charles James Fox on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 150 Charles James Fox","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-150-charles-james-fox/440"}
