These social emotional materials and play therapy tools are helping kids identify and express the big emotions they feel throughout the school day, ranging from anxiety, depression, anger, frustration, lack of self esteem, lack of language and multiple mental health and emotional issues. Our students, many of whom have trauma and/or disabilities (ADHD, Autism, emotional disabilities, speech disorders, and other health impairments) were so excited when they saw the new materials, ranging from a weighted Husky named Henry to help students with emotional regulation in our cozy corner, to multicultural doll families and new (updated) doll house furniture, giving our dollhouse new life and representing our diverse student body-helping children process their lives and experiences. \r\n\r\nOur students have been using the sensory tools to help learn calming and mindfulness techniques to help cope with the bustling, and often challenging, school day. The games and SEL specific tools to help children navigate feelings have already been making a difference in their lives and teachers notice improvement in the classroom with behaviors and emotional regulation. The kids love to explore our space and discover new and exciting/engaging materials. We are so grateful for these amazing gifts that make our time with students more meaningful and helpful. We sincerely thank you for this opportunity.","fullyFundedDate":1737210661287,"projectUrl":"project/play-therapy-magic/8994346/","projectTitle":"Play Therapy Magic!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carrie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9867121"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1253","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":635,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":37,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":43,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":22,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.9,"schoolId":1253,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about The Brooklyn New School at PS 146 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"The Brooklyn New School at PS 146","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-146/1253"}
