These visual supports have become an essential part of our classroom environment.\r\n\r\nWe have created a feelings chart with images representing a variety of emotions, helping students better understand and express how they feel. Our attendance chart now includes visuals that clearly show where students are each day. Since my students are still very young and not yet reading, these visual tools allow them to understand routines and expectations, and help them become more independent throughout the classroom.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, your donation has allowed us to print photos of our classroom activities and share these special learning moments with families. We began by exploring the donated books, building background knowledge about how chicks grow and develop. Students eagerly made predictions about what would happen inside the eggs, and we documented their ideas in our science journals. We are currently using the incubator and carefully tracking the days, monitoring the temperature, and talking about what chicks need to survive. We cannot wait to cheer our hatching chicks on! It is an unforgettable, real-life connection to what we had been learning.\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and contagious. The plush hens and chicks sparked imaginative play and storytelling, while the life cycle figures helped them visualize each stage in a concrete way. For many this will be their first time ever seeing a live chick up close!\r\nCurrently, we are discussing how to care for living things responsibly. Students are working on sequencing activities, labeling the life cycle, and even writing simple informational pieces about what they've learned. As a next step, we plan to connect this project to broader science themes, such as habitats and needs of living things, and give students opportunities to present their learning to others.\r\nBecause of your kindness, our classroom has become a place of curiosity, wonder, and discovery. When I brought it into the room the students immediately wanted to unbox it and see what it was. When I told them it was a new carpet for morning meeting they were ecstatic to say the least! I know that we were going to making such amazing memories in our fresh new meeting area. The morning meeting area is such an important part of the Pre-k classroom and I am delighted that thanks to my donors, I was able to give it a fresh new look! \r\n\r\nAs a teacher of four year olds, the classroom can get really messy, and do accidents happen...alot. That is why I am so exicted that this rug's special feature is that it is machine washable, making it easy for me to take it home periodically and wash it! I have yet to wash the rug yet, but I look forward to being able to freshen it up for the kids and keep it free of germs throughout the winter months where many of the kids get sick easily.
