Because of your kindness, our students were able to engage in an experience that beautifully blended learning, creativity, and compassion. Your contribution made a meaningful difference, not only in our classroom, but also in the wider community we serve.\r\nThis project invited students to take ownership of their math and STEM learning by decorating their academic portfolios with colorful markers and personalized designs. While this may seem like a simple activity, it had a powerful impact. Students became more invested in their work, took pride in their progress, and viewed their learning as something personal and valuable. By transforming their portfolios into creative reflections of themselves, students strengthened their connection to both their academic growth and their identity as learners.\r\nIn addition to enhancing their portfolios, students began creating small, vibrant paintings with the intention of giving them away. These artworks will be donated to local nursing homes, where they will bring color, warmth, and joy to senior residents. For many students, this was their first experience creating something specifically for others, and it opened their eyes to how their talents and efforts can positively affect the lives of people beyond their classroom walls.\r\nThis project emphasized much more than artistic skills. It promoted empathy, generosity, and community awareness. Students learned that creativity can be a tool for service, and that even small acts of kindness can have a meaningful impact. The excitement students felt while creating their artwork was matched by their pride in knowing their paintings would brighten someone else's day. That understanding is a lesson that will stay with them far beyond this school year.\r\nYour generosity made all of this possible. Because of you, students experienced the joy of creativity, the pride of showcasing their learning, and the fulfillment that comes from giving back to their community. You helped create a project that nurtured both academic growth and character development.\r\nOn behalf of our students, families, and educators, thank you for believing in the power of creativity, service, and education. Your support has left a lasting impact on our students and brought genuine joy to members of our local community. We are deeply grateful for your commitment to helping young learners grow into thoughtful, creative, and compassionate individuals.","fullyFundedDate":1766878672272,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-students-decorate-their-portfoli/9973146/","projectTitle":"Help My Students Decorate Their Portfolios and Create Art","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. G.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp12332_orig.png?crop=599,599,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661359251654","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/12332"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_28972","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":818,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":72,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":5,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":1,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"21.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.8,"schoolId":28972,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pathways College Preparatory School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pathways College Preparatory School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/pathways-college-prep-school/28972"}
