My students now have additional tools to help them regulate, calm their bodies, take appropriate sensory breaks, and return to learning feeling more focused and ready.\r\n\r\nThe LED calming fish lamp was a huge hit and has become a wonderful addition to our library and calm area. My students enjoy watching the gentle movement and lights, and it helps create a peaceful space where they can relax and reset when needed.\r\n\r\nThe extra sensory squishies have also been put to great use! Some are available for sensory support, while others are being used as special incentives through our PBIS \"Be a SPORT\" program. Every Friday, students are able to use the SPORT bucks they earn for positive behavior to purchase an item from our school store, and the squishies have quickly become a favorite.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful to our donors for helping us create a classroom environment where students feel supported, motivated, and excited to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1789574361098,"projectUrl":"project/stay-calm-when-schools-out/10306571/","projectTitle":"Stay Calm When Schools Out!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Budhai","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10518376_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1779663374380","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10518376"},{"teacherId":10499309,"projectId":10273981,"letterContent":"Thank you for making this project possible! Because of your generosity, I have been able to create durable visual schedules, communication boards, adapted books, articulation activities, and interactive task cards that my students use every day. One of my favorite moments was introducing our new adapted books and Velcro matching activities during a small-group lesson. My students were immediately excited to explore the new materials, eagerly taking turns matching pictures, answering questions, and participating in ways that encouraged greater independence. Seeing their confidence grow as they successfully completed activities on their own was incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nThe laminator and binding machine have allowed me to create individualized resources that can be used again and again, while the magnetic bookshelf keeps everything organized and easily accessible throughout the school day. These materials have made it easier for students to communicate, follow routines, and actively participate in lessons. Their enthusiasm for the new activities has been wonderful to see, and they often ask to use them during both classroom instruction and therapy sessions.\r\n\r\nAs we continue working on communication, language, literacy, and functional life skills, these resources will remain an essential part of our daily instruction. I will continue creating new adapted books, visual supports, and interactive learning activities that are tailored to each student's needs. Your generosity has given my students meaningful opportunities to build independence, strengthen their skills, and experience success every day. Thank you for investing in our classroom and believing in what our students can achieve!","fullyFundedDate":1778277719725,"projectUrl":"project/creating-adapted-communication-materials/10273981/","projectTitle":"Creating Adapted Communication Materials for Students With Disabilities","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Erin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10499309_orig.png?crop=1179,1179,x0,y106&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1778160944438","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10499309"},{"teacherId":10499309,"projectId":10269725,"letterContent":"My students were so excited when they first saw our new therapy materials! Their faces lit up as they explored the toys, and it was wonderful to see how naturally these resources encouraged communication and interaction. The Melissa & Doug Scoop & Serve Ice Cream Counter has quickly become a favorite during our speech sessions! Students take turns being the ice cream shop worker and customer, practicing important communication skills such as requesting flavors, making choices, labeling items, and using phrases like \"I want chocolate,\" \"more ice cream,\" and \"your turn.\" For students who use AAC devices, these activities provide meaningful opportunities to communicate using their own voices.\r\n\r\nThese new materials have made our speech sessions more engaging, interactive, and accessible to students with a wide range of communication abilities. Through hands-on play, students are developing expressive and receptive language skills, practicing turn-taking, and building confidence when interacting with their peers. It has been especially rewarding to see students who typically need additional prompting become more motivated to initiate communication during these activities.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue incorporating these materials into structured speech activities and small-group lessons, gradually expanding students' vocabulary, sentence length, and social communication skills. Our goal is to help students carry these skills beyond the therapy room and into their classrooms and everyday routines. Thank you for helping create meaningful learning experiences that make communication fun, motivating, and accessible for all of my students!","fullyFundedDate":1780792161064,"projectUrl":"project/play-based-speech-therapy-tools-for-spec/10269725/","projectTitle":"Play-Based Speech Therapy Tools for Special Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Erin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10499309_orig.png?crop=1179,1179,x0,y106&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1778160944438","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10499309"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_121852","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":77.7,"schoolId":121852,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about P4K @ P678K on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"P4K @ P678K","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/p4k-p678k/121852"}
