The instruments and materials we received were essential to not only our Multicultural Celebration performance, where students were able to step into music from different parts of the world and truly showcase their abilities, but also to our everyday classroom work. For many of them, it's more than learning notes or rhythms. It was about embodying the music, sharing it with others, and feeling the pride of being part of something larger than themselves. Watching them perform with confidence on new instruments was one of the clearest reminders of why this work matters.\r\n\r\nThese donations also strengthened our modern band program, giving students access to equipment that pushed their musicianship further and gave them more ownership over their sound. They used these tools to rehearse, collaborate, and prepare for performances in school, and they rose to the occasion. They played with energy, discipline, and heart, and it was incredible to see how much they grew—not just as musicians, but as a community. What began as new equipment quickly became a vehicle for expression, teamwork, and confidence.\r\n\r\nThe impact of these resources doesn't end with one performance. They will continue to live in our classroom, in the hands of future students who will use them to explore, create, and discover their own voices through music. That kind of opportunity stays with students long after the final note is played. As we conclude the second year of P17X High School's music program, we are stepping into a new chapter of growth. Next year, I am looking forward to expanding our offerings with beginning music production classes, building out a more complete modern band setup with school-owned instruments, and moving into a larger classroom space that reflects how far this program has come and how much further it can go.","fullyFundedDate":1773325330701,"projectUrl":"project/creating-opportunities-through-music-fr/10123114/","projectTitle":"Creating Opportunities Through Music: From Classroom to Stage","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Scott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9738975_orig.jpg?crop=789,789,x136,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730738496887","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9738975"},{"teacherId":10258163,"projectId":9710233,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity. My Adaptive PE students have already been using the new resources during our team-building activities, soccer, basketball, and football lead-up games. The materials have helped students participate more confidently and engage in activities that were previously challenging for them.\r\nOne memorable moment happened during a team-building relay when a student who is usually hesitant stepped up to lead their group for the first time. The pride on their face — and the support from their classmates — showed how empowering the new equipment has been.\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were immediately excited. They crowded around the boxes, pointing at items and asking, \"Can we use this today?\" Their enthusiasm was genuine, and it was clear they understood these resources were meant to help them succeed.\r\nAs we move into our current unit on fitness testing, these tools will support students in tracking personal progress, working at their own pace, and feeling successful in ways that matter to them.
