The play-doh stamps are an engaging way to learn new emotional vocabulary and help students to get some of their sensory needs met. I have students that love pretending to run a restaurant. One student even organized a pretend \"seafood boil.\" All of the new toys add a lot of purpose to our pretend play activities, role plays, and play therapy. My students absolutely LOVE the MagnaTiles. They request to play with them all of the time. Students worked together to build towers, homes for the animals, and imaginative structures. These moments naturally created opportunities to practice cooperation, sharing materials, and problem-solving when a structure fell or when students had different ideas about what to build. Instead of becoming frustrated, many students practiced the strategies we've been learning—taking a deep breath, asking for help, and working together to find a solution. Students also love playing with the toy food and dishes. They take turns cutting the vegetables and serving the food. During these sessions, students practice communication, role-playing in different scenarios, and negotiating challenging situations with one another. These playful interactions help students strengthen their language, social awareness, and interpersonal skills. These toys are such an important part of our play therapy sessions. Because of your generosity, my students were able to explore their five senses through hands-on, calming activities that help them better understand mindfulness 🧘♀️ and learn how to stay present in the moment. ☺️ \r\n\r\nThe books you provided quickly became favorites during our read-aloud time. Students were engaged, curious, and excited to talk about what they were learning. These stories helped introduce important information about our 5 senses, mindfulness, and coping skills in ways they could truly understand. The books are interactive and many have buttons that the students love to press to hear different sounds.\r\n\r\nMy students' favorite activity was creating their own rain sticks. They carefully decorated them to make them personalized. Once the rain sticks were finished, we had fun creating our own \"rainstorm\" - starting with a soft drizzle and then exploding into a downpour. 🌧️ ☔️ This was so much fun. It was an engaging way for students to practice paying attention to the different sounds they hear. \r\n\r\nThe skills that students learned through this project will be the beginning of many emotion regulation skills that they build on for years to come.
