The snacks you funded have become a simple but powerful tool for building community, our freshmen and upperclassmen gather during buddy sessions to talk, work together, and check in with each other while sharing treats. It's been amazing to see how something so small helps students open up, relax, and collaborate.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far was when my students used the art supplies to assemble personalized art kits for children in local hospitals. They took so much pride in choosing colors, decorating the packaging, and writing encouraging notes. They were incredibly focused and thoughtful- many of them said it felt good to use their creativity to brighten someone else's day.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were so excited. They immediately started brainstorming how to use everything, and the friendship bracelet supplies were a huge hit. Students have been making cheerful bracelets not only for fellow students but also to include in the hospital kits. Watching them get genuinely excited about spreading kindness has been such a joy.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our next steps include expanding our buddy sessions to include more hands-on collaborative activities, and continuing our service-learning project by creating even more art kits and kindness bracelets. Your support gave my students the tools to build community, express creativity, and make a real impact—both inside and outside our school.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in them and for giving us the opportunity to do this meaningful work.","fullyFundedDate":1759860473310,"projectUrl":"project/help-give-my-students-the-tools-to-serve/9770383/","projectTitle":"Help Give My Students the Tools to Serve Our Community","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cappello","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7440503_orig.jpg?crop=1153,1153,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757590314748","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7440503"},{"teacherId":7440503,"projectId":9750914,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our new power tower has already made a meaningful difference in our classroom. My students use their Chromebooks throughout the day for research, collaborative assignments, and digital practice—and now they can stay fully engaged without worrying about their devices dying. Instead of having to switch seats, crowd around outlets, or disconnect from group work, they're able to remain in their learning spaces and stay focused. One moment that really stood out was during a small-group math activity: a student who normally has to move across the room to charge their Chromebook simply plugged in right from their seat and kept working without missing a beat.\r\n\r\nWhen the power tower arrived, the students were genuinely excited. They immediately began pointing out how much easier it would make their day and how they wouldn't have to \"fight for the good outlet\" anymore. It created an instant boost in the classroom environment. Students felt seen, supported, and valued because the resource solved a problem they deal with every single day. We even decorated it with eyes and made it a member of our classroom! \r\n\r\nWith this new setup, our next steps involve expanding the ways students use technology to deepen their learning. Now that access to power isn't a barrier, students can confidently engage in longer research projects, collaborative digital portfolios, and more sustained inquiry-based lessons. Your contribution didn't just provide a tool—it removed a daily obstacle and helped create a smoother, more productive learning experience for every student in the room. Thank you for making that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1758898989423,"projectUrl":"project/stay-powered-stay-learning/9750914/","projectTitle":"Stay Powered, Stay Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cappello","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7440503_orig.jpg?crop=1153,1153,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757590314748","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7440503"},{"teacherId":7440503,"projectId":9630366,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has been transformed in ways that go far beyond new materials. The three Texas Instruments robots have opened up an entirely new world of hands-on, creative learning for my students. Many of our donors use technology at home, but the way we use it in the classroom especially for math is something truly special. Students are able to see their math skills in action as they write code that makes the robots move, draw, and even make sounds. Concepts like functions, which can sometimes feel abstract on paper, suddenly become meaningful when students watch their code come to life right in front of them.\r\n\r\nThe excitement these robots create is unbelievable. Students rush in asking, \"Are we coding today?\" and they collaborate, troubleshoot, and cheer each other on as the robots complete tasks they designed. Some students who were previously hesitant in math have really blossomed with this technology. One student in particular,usually quiet and unsure,stepped up as a leader during our coding challenges. Watching him confidently explain his thought process to his group was a beautiful reminder of how powerful the right tools can be.\r\n\r\nWith the remaining funds, I was able to add new lighting to our classroom. This may seem small, but it has had a huge impact on the mood and sense of community in our space. The soft lighting has helped create a calm, welcoming environment where students feel safe, focused, and ready to learn. Thank you for supporting not just our academic learning, but also the classroom culture that helps it flourish. Your generosity truly made a difference.","fullyFundedDate":1755739685157,"projectUrl":"project/from-equations-to-motion-stem-with-ti-r/9630366/","projectTitle":"From Equations to Motion: STEM with TI Rovers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cappello","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7440503_orig.jpg?crop=1153,1153,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757590314748","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7440503"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_20819","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":288,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":91,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":73,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.4,"schoolId":20819,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about New World High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"New World High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/new-world-high-school/20819"}
