From exploring freshwater cenotes and sustainable farming practices to participating in coral restoration, mangrove planting, and environmental conservation efforts, every experience deepened their understanding of the world and their role within it. Students also had the opportunity to give back by leading educational activities and lessons that integrated science, art, literacy, multiple languages, and inclusive teaching practices.\r\n\r\nThis journey was far more than a trip—it was an opportunity for students to discover their voices, strengthen their leadership skills, build lasting relationships, and develop a deeper appreciation for different cultures, ecosystems, and communities. The memories, lessons, and connections made during this experience will stay with them for years to come.\r\n\r\nThank you to everyone who supported our students through donations, encouragement, planning, and belief in the power of experiential learning. Your generosity and support made this life-changing opportunity possible. Because of you, our students returned home with expanded horizons, greater confidence, and a renewed commitment to making a positive impact on the world.","fullyFundedDate":1766958729427,"projectUrl":"project/global-learning-through-dominican-cultur/9947599/","projectTitle":"Global Learning Through Dominican Culture and Climate Action","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cheryl Hanlon-Minara","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5047178_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764976887422","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5047178"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1126","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":440,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":9,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":76,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"18.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.4,"schoolId":1126,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Middle College High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Middle College High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/middle-college-high-school/1126"}
