The fine motor materials and toys you helped provide have quickly become some of the most loved resources in our therapy room. Through these materials, students have been building fine motor and visual motor skills, sharpening their problem-solving abilities, and developing the creativity and independence needed to fully participate in their daily school activities. \r\n\r\nWhen our students first discovered the new materials, they were eager to explore and more enthusiastic than ever about their occupational therapy sessions. These resources have made each session both engaging and enjoyable, turning everyday play into powerful learning experiences. Your thoughtful support has made a lasting difference in the lives of our young learners, and we are so grateful for your kindness. Whether it was building with blocks, completing fire truck puzzles, practicing letter formation, or strengthening their hand muscles with tweezer activities, our students developed new skills while having fun!\r\n\r\nWe look forward to continuing to use these materials to help our students build the essential skills they need to support their success in school and everyday life. We are so grateful for all of your contributions. Our students were so excited to help open the boxes and see all of these new materials. They were even more excited to begin using them! \r\n\r\nSeating alternatives (wobble stools; air cushions; weighted lap pads) have helped our students to participate in seated activities for increased amounts of time and more comfort. Helping the students stay regulated during these tabletop activities allows for more learning opportunities. \r\n\r\nThe various exercise balls have allowed the OTs to work with students on a variety of core strengthening activities. Core strength is essential for students' safe navigation of the school, fine motor activities, and really all aspects of the school day. Being able to use these colorful exercise balls in fun ways (rolling on top; sitting and bouncing; lying on their belly on the ball while completing a puzzle) has made these core strengthening tasks something our students look forward to daily! \r\n\r\nWe plan to continue to use these materials to help students self-regulate and better access their school days.","fullyFundedDate":1773633713295,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-equipment-for-sam-and-hannahs-o/10148693/","projectTitle":"Sensory Equipment for Sam and Hannah's OT Room","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10462174"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_107234","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":450,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - Pre-K","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":82.2,"schoolId":107234,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pre-Kindergarten 280 Bishop Ford Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pre-Kindergarten 280 Bishop Ford Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/k280-district-15-pre-k/107234"}
