The students were absolutely thrilled when they first saw all the pieces we received. They couldn't believe their eyes and couldn't wait to get their hands on them. The excitement in the room was palpable as they eagerly gathered around the materials, ready to dive into their creative projects. It was heartwarming to witness their enthusiasm and to see how this opportunity sparked their imaginations.\r\n\r\nWith the yarn, the students crafted headbands, flowers, purses, and plushies. One particularly talented student even created a stunning 3D rose and a 3D dinosaur. It was remarkable to see his dedication as he also began working on a blanket! Watching them focus so intently on their projects and truly love the craft was a joy for me as an educator. They encouraged one another and shared ideas, fostering a wonderful sense of community and collaboration in our club. The other materials were used to make beautiful bracelets and necklaces, adding to the variety of crafts the students explored. \r\n\r\nMy students and I are genuinely grateful for your support, and we cannot thank you enough for contributing to their creative journey. Your generosity has made a lasting impact, and we look forward to sharing more amazing projects with you in the future! We still have a lot of materials left, which means we can continue learning and creating new pieces in our after school clubs this year.","fullyFundedDate":1746787001543,"projectUrl":"project/getting-crafty-in-after-school-clubs/9037667/","projectTitle":"Getting Crafty In After-School Clubs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Castillo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4663018_orig.jpg?crop=1422,1422,x4,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1598589830755","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mscastillosclassroom"},{"teacherId":8046319,"projectId":8788810,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous contributions to our classroom. My students now have access to flexible seating options that allow them to work in the ways that best suit their learning styles. This has made a huge difference, especially in my self-contained classrooms, where students can choose from a variety of seating arrangements that promote comfort and focus. One of the most impactful resources has been the portable dry erase boards, which have enabled students to engage with lessons more directly. For instance, during a recent math lesson, students were able to use these boards to work through problems step by step, making corrections and adjustments in real-time. The larger, more accessible visual support has been especially beneficial for students with Dyslexia and Dyscalculia, who often struggle with visual organization. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to integrate these resources into a more collaborative project where students can work together using the boards to solve complex problems. This will not only reinforce their individual learning but also encourage peer-to-peer teaching and teamwork, which is crucial for their development.","fullyFundedDate":1726665915954,"projectUrl":"project/special-education-classroom-support/8788810/","projectTitle":"Special Education Classroom Support!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Deely","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8046319"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_791","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":280,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":94,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":90,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"8.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":57.8,"schoolId":791,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Junior High School 162 Willoughby on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Junior High School 162 Willoughby","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/jhs-162-willoughby/791"}
