I decided to use my newly purchased percussion equipment with my 7th and 8th grade 12-1-1 classes. Many of my students can enjoy learning percussion instruments in a much quieter environment thanks to the use of the drum pads. Every class we watch a video from a drum line or marching band and it inspires them to play the drums. \r\n\r\nMy students were super excited for the new equipment. Once they saw the drum sticks they knew what they were going to be doing. Even though they were expecting to play on a real drum right away, they soon warmed up to the practice pads because of how quiet they could be. Every class they are excited to play the drums and let off some steam.\r\n\r\nMy next step for my students would be creating a drumline. After watching all the videos and marching bands, they can not wait for the next step in their musical adventure.
