Instead of simply using technology, students are learning how it works by designing circuits, experimenting with electronic components, and creating projects of their own. These activities help students build problem-solving, critical-thinking, and fine-motor skills while giving them opportunities to practice perseverance when something doesn't work the first time.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students has been being able to create and make something that actually works. Watching a light turn on or a circuit come to life gives them an immediate sense of accomplishment and shows them that they can be successful with technology. Students who may sometimes hesitate to participate in traditional academic activities have become more willing to experiment, collaborate, and share their ideas. For many of my students, especially those who benefit from hands-on learning, these projects have provided a chance to experience themselves as capable problem-solvers and creators.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make these experiences possible. Your generosity is giving my students more than technology—it is giving them opportunities to be curious, creative, persistent, and confident as they discover what they can do.","fullyFundedDate":1666021641797,"projectUrl":"project/designing-circuits-coding/6878604/","projectTitle":"Designing Circuits & Coding","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Susan Murray","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1567954_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1499377263782","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msmurray171"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2132","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":269,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":81,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"7.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.8,"schoolId":2132,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Intermediate School 171 Abraham Lincoln on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Intermediate School 171 Abraham Lincoln","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/is-171-abraham-lincoln/2132"}
