The language is hard, the names sound weird, and kids can be intimidated by the length and breadth of the plays.\r\n\r\nSo I am extremely thankful for your help in demystifying Shakespeare and helping my kids lean in with their strengths. These sketchbooks are paramount for my visual learners, the books work as visual notebooks for my kids who can sketch character traits, scenes from the play, and word splashes from the language they encounter in the play. This is increasingly challenging as a special needs teacher as student interest in personal reading and reading skill has waned over time.\r\n\r\nThis project has been a huge help in reestablishing a reading for pleasure routine with my high school students with special needs. The high schoolers that read in a 2nd-3rd grade level don't feel singled out with \"baby books\" when they have access to the graphic novels. I really appreciate the different types of texts that the graphic novels represent, everything from ecology to Shakespeare to LGBTQ. I love watching them read in class!
