Because of your generosity, we were able to add a heat press and new supplies to our makerspace, opening the door to exciting new creative opportunities.\r\n\r\nThe moment the students learned that our project had been funded, the room filled with excitement. They immediately began brainstorming ideas and imagining what they could create. Some wanted to design custom shirts for their sports teams and clubs, while others excitedly talked about launching their own clothing brands. It was incredible to watch their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit come to life.\r\n\r\nThese new resources are much more than classroom tools—they are opportunities for students to explore design thinking, develop technical skills, express their creativity, and gain confidence by bringing their ideas from concept to creation. Every project they complete will remind them that someone believed in their potential enough to invest in their dreams.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us expand our makerspace into a place where imagination, innovation, and hands-on learning thrive. Your kindness is making a lasting impact on the lives of our young creators, and we are truly grateful for your support.\r\n\r\nWith sincere appreciation,","fullyFundedDate":1775825059231,"projectUrl":"project/pressing-toward-the-future-student-made/10173355/","projectTitle":"Pressing Toward the Future: Student-Made School Swag","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Requena","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9585171_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720516552123","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9585171"},{"teacherId":9585171,"projectId":9735653,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support. The arrival of our 3D printer, xTool laser cutter, and Cricut machine has transformed our Media Arts and AI Technology classroom into a true makerspace—one that empowers students to explore, design, and create in ways that were previously impossible.\r\n\r\nMany of you may use technology at home, but the way our students engage with these tools in school is deeply connected to hands-on learning, problem-solving, and real-world creativity. These machines are helping students bring their ideas to life. Instead of simply imagining a concept, they can now prototype it, refine it, and physically produce it, which strengthens their understanding of design thinking and engineering.\r\n\r\nThe excitement these tools have generated is incredible. Students walk into class eager to experiment—whether they are 3D printing custom keychains, laser engraving artwork, or designing personalized stickers and apparel with the Cricut. The ability to create something tangible sparks curiosity and boosts confidence, especially for students who may struggle in traditional academic settings.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously hesitant to participate have now fully embraced the technology. One student who rarely spoke in class is now leading small groups, teaching peers how to set up files for the laser cutter. Another student who has expressed interest in pursuing engineering is using the 3D printer to prototype parts for her own personal project. These tools are helping students discover skills, passions, and possibilities they never knew they had.\r\n\r\nYour donation has not only supported our classroom but has also inspired a new wave of creativity, leadership, and pride among our scholars. We are deeply grateful for your investment in their futures.","fullyFundedDate":1758908340332,"projectUrl":"project/the-lab-hbcu-early-college-prep/9735653/","projectTitle":"The Lab HBCU Early College Prep","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Requena","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9585171_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720516552123","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9585171"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_134440","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":100,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"9 - 9","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":69.0,"schoolId":134440,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about HBCU Early College Prep on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"HBCU Early College Prep","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/hbcu-early-college-prep/134440"}
