The goal of the group is to support other and do something positive in our South Bronx community without missing a meal. I supported the group with snacks however it has become too expensive while the group began to grow. With your generous donation, we are able to plan and provide support with seniors in our community. My community service group we've celebrate by visiting a senior day center by singing dancing, arts and crafts and most importantly the relationships our students are building with the seniors.\r\n\r\nThis is what my students had to say....\r\n\r\nM***: I really enjoyed playing pool with Mr. John Doe. He was really patient with me and C***. I hope that I get to learn more things next time we visit, and I hope I get to play more pool. I also like to get to know more of the Seniors, especially to know their names. \r\n\r\nC***: I had fun today. The guy who taught me pool had cool jeans and I'm thankful he was patient with me because I have trouble focusing. Yet he made learning so easy for me. I never got his name but if he is listening to this I want to thank him for being nice to me and making my anxiety go away even if for just that moment.\r\n\r\nN****: The senior center was an amazing experience. Everybody there was so sweet, kind, welcoming and it was amazing energy. I met this one lovely lady named M**, and I really truly enjoyed talking to her. She was so funny and had amazing energy and I'm truly excited to see her again. The lovely ladies that I did Arts & Crafts with were so genuine and made the experience so much better. Overall, the experience was amazing, and I had a great time. I'm so excited to see my besties again.\r\n\r\nA****: today was very fun. I tried to talk to all of you, but I will make sure to talk more next time. I hope you will tell me more stories next time. Also, I will bring my crochet supplies next time I visit. \r\n\r\nG***: Today at the Senior Center it was amazing, but what really made it amazing was Mr. W***. He reminded me of my grandfather. That just sort of made the little kid inside of me happy. He taught me the same way how to play cards just like my grandfather taught but this time I was able to interpret it unlike back when I was younger. We have the same common interests. He went to Syracuse for college and I'm aiming hard for Syracuse. I really would like to see him again for a couple of more years so I can go back and show him I made it into Syracuse. I rate my experience 10 out of 10.\r\n\r\nL*****: I had SUCH a great time connecting with the Seniors. They gave me such positive energy that reflected right off me. It was so fun making crafts even though I didn't know what I was doing. Us finding something to do while chatting was the best time spent. I hope we visit more frequently and build bonds. I introduced myself as L*** today. Don't forget us!\r\n\r\nAl***: Playing pool for the first time was a great experience. The fellow with a blue shirt and \"C***\" in yellow did great in showing how to play. Playing with my friends also made it great. I'd love to go back and socialize a bit more. \r\n\r\nN****: My time at the Senior Center was spent amazingly. Talking with the people there re-established my love for my family. When I went home, I told my mom that I loved her. Although I can't do arts and crafts, I surely can talk. So having conversations with them felt effortless. I felt comfortable. Although I don't have any grandparents anymore, I wondered at that moment what it would've been like to still have them by my side, especially my grandmother. I can't say I understand everything they say. After all, they've had so many more experiences than me. I've still yet to fully live life like them. I do understand, however, after our conversations — that we are history. It's important that we cherish everyone around us, particularly the ones we love the most. Even the ones we don't know well, we must treat with respect and kindness. The different stories I heard yesterday showed me how everyone lives thousands of lives in one lifespan. We are a mosaic of the environment we live in. And we should strive to be a good testament to the past, who we were, and who we will be; whatever we may be. Let it be good.","fullyFundedDate":1767710645601,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-lunch-time-support-grou/9693863/","projectTitle":"Social Emotional Lunch Time Support Groups","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sosa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6161035"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_20858","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":366,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":30,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":65,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.6,"schoolId":20858,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Eximius College Preparatory Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Eximius College Preparatory Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/eximius-clg-prep-academy/20858"}
