While we waited for the kiln and clay to arrive, a fundraising drive allowed us to begin printmaking activities, creating collographs and making group prints in multiple colors. One of these prints has been selected for the Staten Island Borough Arts festival at Snug Harbor, opening on May 6. This will be a huge moment for the collaborating artists, to see their work,\"Beloved\", framed and hanging in an art gallery!\r\nThe kiln, clay, glazes finally arrived, and students began to work with the clay last week. You will see some photos of the artists at work. Word spread around Concord HS that there was clay in the studio, and students began arriving, \"can I have some clay too?\" Any and all students were given a small handful of clay to hold, and manipulate. By the end of the day there were wareboards full of vessels and pinch pots and they had been awed to learn that the material they had been holding was not \"playdoh\" but from the earth, and thousands of years old, full of the energy of the sun, the wind, the turning of the earth, the shining of the stars, the movement of the planets and the passing of time.
