Most recently, our whiteboards and markers served as the canvas for our watershed modeling, allowing students to sketch the journey of rainwater from \"mountaintop to tap\" before heading into the field. Even the quiet organization of our new seed drawers has made an impact; watching a student carefully categorize seeds—the \"blueprints\" of a future forest—transformed a simple storage unit into a library of environmental potential.\r\n\r\nThere was an immediate sense of professional pride in the room when the materials arrived. When the science gloves were unpacked, the students didn't just see safety gear; they saw themselves as \"real scientists\" ready for the field. The new seed drawers gave our collection a respected home, while a fresh supply of band-aids provided the security to get our hands dirty and take risks. These tools have validated their roles as researchers and stewards.\r\n\r\nThe \"faucet moment\" we experienced—where a student realized their work in the woods directly impacts the water in their home—has sparked a new curiosity. Our next step is to expand our lens from forestry to agriculture, using our seed drawers to study \"watershed-friendly\" farming. With our gloves on and whiteboards ready, we are moving from understanding how a forest protects our water to investigating how sustainable farms do the same, ensuring my students remain the next generation of guardians for New York's most precious resource.","fullyFundedDate":1773534487912,"projectUrl":"project/growing-wellness-and-climate-science-thr/9927686/","projectTitle":"Growing Wellness and Climate Science Through Our Classroom Seed Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Belliard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2935210_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743174672645","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2935210"},{"teacherId":1997993,"projectId":9874233,"letterContent":"This has been the best project I have done all year, as it has truly allowed kids exactly what it set out to- a different kind of recess where all kids can feel calm, confortable and realx! \r\n\r\nAll of the games ( old school 90s style) Trouble, Sorry!, Etcha Sketch, LightBright, UNO, coloring books, craft kits etc have allowed kids to truly enjoy their recess.
