When the large boxes of snacks and water first arrived, my students' faces completely lit up. There were immediate cheers, wide eyes, and a collective exclamation of, \"Wow, someone bought all of this for us?!\" For many of them, it was a powerful realization that a community of people they've never met truly cares about their success and well-being.\r\n\r\nWe put these resources to use immediately during our recent state testing days. On the first morning of exams, I was able to greet my students at the door with granola bars, fruit snacks, and water. A specific moment that stood out to me was seeing a few students who normally walk in visibly anxious and empty-handed completely shift their demeanor. Instead of sitting at their desks stressed and hungry, they were able to eat, sit back, relax, and chat happily with their peers before the test booklets were passed out. Having that fuel completely leveled the playing field, settling their nerves and allowing them to focus entirely on showing what they know.\r\n\r\nNow that testing is behind us, our students are channeling that same energy into our next big academic milestone. We are currently diving into an interactive, collaborative group project where students are building digital presentations and showcasing their critical thinking skills. Thanks to your support, they wrapped up their exams with confidence and are moving into this next unit feeling energized, valued, and fully ready to take on new learning challenges. Having a large supply of tissues available brought immediate relief and comfort to students who were sneezing, coughing, or feeling under the weather. Our novel is an exciting tale of time travel and a love triangle in which our main character must make a difficult choice that will forever alter his future. My students are extremely happy to be reading an actual book this year as we have mostly read short stories or excerpts. Many are excited to meet the author when he visits our school. Every day we read 1-2 chapters of the novel and discuss our thoughts about it. \r\n\r\nThis practice have allowed my students to be exposed to new vocabulary words. We have discussions about life, grief, identity and pressure making personal connections with the novel.
