As the year winds down, all of our supplies have been thoroughly tried and tested by students everyday. As a new school, we've accomplished a tremendous amount this year, and I am really proud of how far we've come. With the learning center this year I established it as a student work center. Students know they can come and hang out on the bean bags, ask for help, work with peers, or play a game. Students feel like this is their space. \r\n\r\nWith this project in particular, soundproofing the learning center, these tiles have served many purposes! This room is so long and concrete that it is hard to dampen sound a ton, but the tiles have definitely helped lessen the noise and echo chamber effect in this room. They also serve as a thumbtack board so I can post flyers or artwork. I have yet to use it extensively in this way, but I think it could really come in handy as students also start to make and post their own flyers and find their own ways to contribute to our school. \r\n\r\nThank you again for all your support this year. The supplies have really made the space come alive.","fullyFundedDate":1771109738209,"projectUrl":"project/sound-proofing-the-learning-center/10090738/","projectTitle":"Sound-proofing the Learning Center","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nola","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10340085_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762700231999","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10340085"},{"teacherId":10340085,"projectId":9871236,"letterContent":"The supplies ordered for the learning center have had a huge impact on students. When the bean bags, rug, plants, and fidget toys first arrived students couldn't believe it. They didn't know I had plans to help us get new supplies so they were excited and shocked. The learning center is now a space that almost every student visits at some point during the week. There are students utilizing our learning center/ library space and relaxing in the bean bag area most periods, every day. Because of the supplies we gained, students take themselves seriously as learners and know that once they come \r\nto the learning center it is time to get to work. Students also know that if they need support, I have the resources and skills to help them. \r\n\r\nIn this next semester, I am working on setting up peer tutoring, an inter-campus book club, further establishing our library catalog, and creating college course study groups. Students will be well set up with the resources we gained through this project.\r\n\r\nMy next goal is to order acoustic panels to help dampen sound. The space is one very long classroom that has a tendency to echo. Even when students are talking quietly, you can hear what they are saying at the other end of the room. An easy solution will be acoustic panels to absorb sound.","fullyFundedDate":1763257322015,"projectUrl":"project/focused-and-comfortable-establishing-ou/9871236/","projectTitle":"Focused and Comfortable: Establishing Our New Learning Center","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nola","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10340085_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762700231999","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10340085"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_133979","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":401,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":63.6,"schoolId":133979,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Bard High School Early College Brooklyn on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Bard High School Early College Brooklyn","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/bard-high-school-early-college-brooklyn/133979"}
