When the bean bags, rug, plants, and fidget toys first arrived students couldn't believe it. They didn't know I had plans to help us get new supplies so they were excited and shocked. The learning center is now a space that almost every student visits at some point during the week. There are students utilizing our learning center/ library space and relaxing in the bean bag area most periods, every day. Because of the supplies we gained, students take themselves seriously as learners and know that once they come \r\nto the learning center it is time to get to work. Students also know that if they need support, I have the resources and skills to help them. \r\n\r\nIn this next semester, I am working on setting up peer tutoring, an inter-campus book club, further establishing our library catalog, and creating college course study groups. Students will be well set up with the resources we gained through this project.\r\n\r\nMy next goal is to order acoustic panels to help dampen sound. The space is one very long classroom that has a tendency to echo. Even when students are talking quietly, you can hear what they are saying at the other end of the room.
