Your contributions have truly transformed the reading experience for my students in ways that are both exciting and meaningful.\r\n\r\nThese new books have sparked so many imaginations. Many of the titles and series you helped provide were not even available in our school library, and having access to them has opened the door to new skills and learning opportunities. Students are practicing comprehension strategies such as making predictions, identifying themes, and discussing character development. They are also learning how to engage in thoughtful conversations about what they read by asking questions, sharing perspectives, and supporting their ideas with evidence from the text.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has become a vibrant, student-driven experience. Students have even started their own book club, where they spend 30 minutes reading independently and then meet in small groups to discuss the parts of the story that stood out to them. These conversations are rich with excitement and curiosity, and it's inspiring to see them take ownership of their learning in this way.\r\n\r\nI've also seen many students take a leap into exploring new genres they had never tried before. With more choices available, they feel empowered to step outside their comfort zones and discover new interests. Some students who were previously hesitant readers are now eagerly picking up books and recommending them to their peers.\r\n\r\nOur cozy reading corner complete with pillows and soft lighting has become a favorite space in the classroom. The choice to pick up a book and become immersed in a story has never been more meaningful. Students ask for more time each day to quietly curl up with their books, and it's incredible to witness. Seeing literacy come alive in this way and watching students develop a genuine love and appreciation for reading and storytelling has been one of the most rewarding parts of this experience. Your support has made all of this possible.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making such a lasting impact on our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1760720601489,"projectUrl":"project/lighting-the-way-through-reading/9630314/","projectTitle":"Lighting the Way Through Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Green","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10078196"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_22451","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":578,"numTeachers":41,"percentFrplEligible":47,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":68,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"3 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.5,"schoolId":22451,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pinewood Intermediate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pinewood Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/mohonasen-central-school-district/pinewood-intermediate-school/22451"}
